Rubbish and pollutants escaping down the drain? Stop them NOW!

With spring almost upon us, it is time to start checking gutters and drains to ensure they are clean and free of debris.

With that in mind, Argyle Commercial’s Drain Pollution Guard is on sale this month to make your job even easier.

Argyle’s unique cost effective drain pollution guard has been designed to stop pollutants at the front line.  Filtering hydrocarbons and sediment before they enter a drain, it is an extremely popular product for construction sites, civil work sites, retail centres, machinery and manufacturing workshops, parking lots and any other place where debris and contaminants pose a problem in the drain.

The drain pollution guard is constructed using a heavy duty geofabric filter material fine enough to stop silt, but with a low resistance to water flow, critical for efficient drainage.

Also included with the drain pollution guard is a floating polypropylene absorbent pillow which further filters the pollutants in the drain.  Both the drain pollution guard and pillow are simple to install and replace.

The standard size is 1200 x 1200mm, however once installed, you can cut it down once to fit virtually any drain.

How to install and maintain your drain pollution guard:

Step 1 - Lift grate from sump and attach absorbent pillow.

Step 2 - Place drain guard over the sump and drop pillow into the drain guard.

Step 3 - Replace grate, standing on it to make it secure.

Step 4 - Draw a line around the grate about 10 cm out from the edge. Trim fabric around line – excess material allows the drain guard to reposition and stretch into the drain.

After 4-5 months the Drain Guard will need to be removed for cleaning or replacement. It can easily be serviced by trained staff.

Step 5 - Lift grate from sump and untie the bilge rat from the grate. Proceed with caution when lifting the Drain Guard (it may weigh up to 15 kg). Remove the Drain Guard from the sump, making sure captured debris isn’t spilt back into the unprotected sump.

Step 6 - Clean-up the contents and dispose of the waste under guidelines set by local and federal government departments. Replace Drain Guard if necessary.
